Sacred Grounds Coffee Bag Proposal

Project Type

Packaging Design

Institution

University of Canberra

Role

Lead Designer

The new and improved packaging design for Sacred Grounds takes on sustainability without compromising the pre-existing brand message. The sustainable packaging is made from paper that is lined with Polylactic Acid (PLA). PLA is a plant-based plastic that is made from sources such as sugarcane and bamboo. With this new design, Sacred Grounds can ditch the low-density polyethylene packaging and take the next step towards a sustainable future for their organic coffee bean line.

The overall design concepts for this project have stayed true to the current brand image. Following the colour blocking style of their illustrations, I have designed a new coffee bag for the release of their new sustainable packaging. The illustration is also set to represent the mountain of coffee grounds that form when you freshly grind Sacred Grounds coffee beans. The colours introduced showcase a new blend which is a fusion of dark chocolate and pomegranate. I call this coffee blend “Golden Valley”.
